Biography of Andranik Manukyan

Andranik Enokovich Manukyan was born on December 22, 1954, in the village of Akhvanadzor, Razdan district. He is an Armenian political and state figure, known for his contributions to the country's development.

Education and Early Career

Manukyan attended the Yerevan Institute of National Economy from 1976 to 1978. Afterward, he pursued his studies at the Leningrad Financial and Economic Institute named after N.A. Voznesensky, where he graduated as a student from 1978 to 1982. He continued his academic journey at the same institute as a postgraduate student from 1982 to 1984, earning a candidate degree in economic science.

During his early career, Manukyan worked at the Razdan Cement Plant from 1970 to 1973. He then served in the border troops of the USSR from 1973 to 1975. In 1985, he became a senior research fellow at the Yerevan Institute of National Economy.

Political Career

From 1985 to 1990, Manukyan worked as an instructor and later became the head of the department at the Yerevan City Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia (CPA). In 1990, he became the CEO of the trade and industrial firm "Armautovaztechobsluzhivanie."

Manukyan entered politics as a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR from 1990 to 1995, representing the "Republic" faction. He was reelected as a parliament member from 1995 to 1999, initially as a member of the "Republic" faction and later as part of the parliamentary group "Erkrapa."

On May 30, 1999, Manukyan was elected as a deputy to the parliament and joined the permanent commission on financial, credit, budget, and economic issues. He became a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).

Assassination Attempt and Ministerial Positions

On October 27, 1999, Manukyan was wounded during a terrorist attack in the Armenian parliament. Despite this incident, he continued his political career.

From May to November 2000, Manukyan served as the Minister-Head of the Government Apparatus of Armenia. He then held the position of Minister of State Revenues from 2000 to 2001.

In July 2001, Manukyan became the Minister of Transport and Communication of Armenia.

Later Career

Starting from April 2008, Manukyan served as an advisor to the President of Armenia, contributing his expertise and knowledge to the development of the country.
